Hello World!

Does my millennial upbringing showing too much? haha! Thought it is appropriate first line for the first blog post ever.

Thank you for stopping by and nice to meet you. I am Gal, one of the photographers in the (dare I say) creative duo of Icon Provocateur studio. My partner - Napoleon - is not only my business and creative partner, but my second half in every other aspect of life. Together we raise our children, work, travel, learn, enjoy and create.

Photography in general and boudoir photography in particular has become a big part of our life in the past 5 years . Last year we have decided to make it a business. Preferably, a successful one.

Now, while our financials advisor and Canada Revenue have very well defined criteria for success measurement, we are still working on our definition of success.

In our mind our success and fulfilment as creators tie together very closely. We enjoy the butterflies and excitement of creating photographic art. Capturing the perfect lines and curves of human bodies and having light and colour as a medium of exploration is a special joy known to visual artists. Seeing people’s genuine happiness from a session reveal is a feeling of high that I cannot put into words. An opportunity of drawing inspiration from great artists and channel it into our photo sessions makes work feel like and adventure every single time.

In general adventure, journey and exploration is the big part of this studio. That’s why we call our photo shoot sessions “Journeys”. It reflects our approach to photography: it is a new discovery every single time. And no person is the same after the photoshoot.

All that being said, I think I can safely summarize our criteria for success in our business in the following bullet points:

  • Remaining authentic to our artistic view on boudoir and fine nude photography while creating memorable and profound experiences for our customers
  • Learn and continue developing our style of photography
  • Enjoy every step of the way, including challenges. After all there is no adventure without a challenge.

The financial side of the business is obviously important as well. However, as established above, I am a millennial, and true to the stereotype of my generation, I believe that the positive attitude, authenticity, passion and professionalism will result in the more traditional aspect of the Success. So, as professionals we would like to focus right now on providing the best possible service and products. (Speaking of which, have you looked at our Services page? ;))

So, here we are. Now your turn! Reach out to us on Instagram if you have any questions or suggestions about what you want us to write about in the blog.

Can’t wait to chat with you!

Xoxo, Gal
